Summary of Shreemad Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1

The summary of Chapter 1 of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita is the simplest yet it has the foundational importance. To understand the flow of the Bhagavad Gita conversation, it is essential to understand chapter 1 of it. Tulsi Tree There are 47 Slokas in this chapter, among them Arjun's speech started from sloka number 21. So these Slokas can be divided into two sections. In the first section which is from sloka number 2 to sloka number 20, Sanjay spoke about the environment of the War field of Kurukshetra after he received an inquiry from Pro-tem King Dhritarashtra in the First sloka of the first chapter of Shreemad Bhagavad Gita. In the 20th sloka, Sanjay told that Arjun asked Krsna to move the chariot in the middle of both the armies. Krsna listened to Arjun's wise and drove the chariot and placed it in the middle of the Kurukshetra War field under a Banyan Tree(Ficus benghalensis). This is the picture of that tree that is still alive. After that, Krsna gave a perspecti...

Why does Bhagavad Gita called Bhagavad Gita?

This a rightful question that I have come across when I first started reading this book. Because this book is separated by Acharyas from Mahabharata and they gave this name to this conversation that happened between Krsna and Arjuna in the War field of Kurukshetra. Sri Krsna running to kill Bhishma Pitamaha and Arjun is trying to stop him because he took oath before Mahabharat War that he wouldn't hold any weapon during the War. The full name of this conversation is:- Srimad Bhagavad Gita . I individually explain each of these three words... 1. Srimad :- The word " Mad " means " Intellectuality " and " Sri " means " Beauty ". So, " Srimad " means " Beauty of Intellectualism ".   2. Bhagavad :- This word is made of two words. 1. Bhag and 2. Avad . The word " Bhag " means those six opulences which I have mentioned in my previous article and the word " Avad " means "Can't be killed" but here...

Introduction to the Structure of gita

Among the Vedic literature, Shrimad Bhagavad Gita has the most simple structure. It was recorded in a mode of communication between two sets of people. Under Set one there are two people...   Dhritarashtra     Sanjaya Under Set two there are two people... Arjun/Arjuna Krsna And Set one is depending upon Set two because whatever statements were exchanging between the people of Set two, those statements were first listened to by the Sanjaya of Set one, and then he was expounding those to Dhritarashtra. So, it is the communication model of exchanging knowledge just like our schools and universities use. Now, moving on to the environment of this discussion; which is quite unusual compared to the environment of our schools and universities. Cause, the Gita happened in the War field of Kurukshetra when the battle of Mahabharata was just about to begin. Now, allow me to explain the war of Mahabharata but briefly.                   ...

What is Bhagavad Gita/Geeta?

So, in one word Srimad Bhagavad Gita is a " BOOK "; and I believe before reading any book we must need to know the essential facts about that book, like the name of the writer, contents covered in that book, etc. Bhagavad Gita is part of the great epic called " Mahabharata " which is mainly known as " Jaya ". This epic was written by Maharishi Bhagavan Krsna Dwaipayan Ved Vaysa . Maharishi Bhagavan Krsna Dwaipayan Ved Vaysa In that epic, there is 18 Parvas and this Srimad Bhagavad Gita is part of the Bhisma Parva between chapter 23 to 40 . Because "Jaya" written in Sanskrit so this Bhagavad Gita also wrote in the Sanskrit language; in ancient times it used to be part of the "Jaya" but later Srimad Sripad Adi Shankaracharya (700AD) himself separately written his first-ever commentary on this portion of "Jaya" and this way Gita separated from the "Jaya" and got its identification among the Vedic literature. Srimad ...
